Burke Hedges Joins LifeVantage as a Distributor

Burke Hedges Joins LifeVantage as a Distributor

Burke Hedges

Burke Hedges, author of Who Stole the American Dream and Parable of the Pipeline, is considered an icon in the network marketing industry. He has built multi-million dollar network marketing organizations and is a sought-after speaker and trainer on network marketing, as well as the author of seven books that have sold over four million copies worldwide and have been translated into 20 different languages. LifeVantage Corporation (OTCBB:LFVN), the maker of Protandim(R), today announced that Burke Hedges has joined the LifeVantage team as an independent distributor.

Burke Hedges commented, “For 21 years, my specific area of expertise is network marketing – I have built two multi-million dollar network marketing organizations and speak internationally on the subject. I have written seven books to educate, empower and equip distributors of the industry with the knowledge and tools to build a successful and profitable network marketing business. When I learned about the LifeVantage opportunity, I was blown away by the life changing, breakthrough science behind Protandim, which I believe will, without question, create mass market appeal and demand for the product. It’s not another ‘me too’ product – it’s backed by science. When I learned the company was using the proven, word of mouth, viral network marketing strategy to educate consumers about the product, I became unglued with excitement. I’ve waited years for an opportunity with such explosive growth potential like LifeVantage.”

Hedges added, “Two other important factors weighed in my decision. First, the mindset of people worldwide, especially those over age 30, looking for solutions to slow down the aging process. Baby boomers, the most influential and consuming generation in recent history are getting older, and are seeking a product with the benefits of Protandim. Secondly, millions of good, hard working people (old and young) have been devastated by the recent economic tsunami and are looking for a way out of their financial challenges. In my 21 year career, I’ve never seen more people open to retooling their skills in order to resolve their financial needs. There is no doubt that the LifeVantage home business model may be the answer for millions of people’s financial challenges, and this has created a unique time sensitive opportunity for those who understand the LifeVantage vision.”

David Brown, LifeVantage President and CEO, said, “Burke Hedges is considered to be a legend in the network marketing industry. He has a track record of building incredible organizations, and he has consulted for many of the top network marketing companies in the world. His expertise and insight is sought after by countless organizations and leaders. It is an honor to welcome Burke to the LifeVantage family.”

Oprah Under Fire For Acai Endorsement

Oprah Under Fire For Acai Endorsement

Oprah has been a leading voice in the exponential growth in sales of acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) products — a fruit found in the Brazilian jungles heralded for its antioxidant powers. But now she’s under attack for her endorsement from humanitarian types, who say the exploitation of the acai is leaving jungle dwellers starved for one of their favored sources of nutrients.

Image from StreetKnowledge

Image from StreetKnowledge

Soaring yuppie demand for the fruit — sales doubled to $104 million in 2008 — has driven prices out of reach for low-income indigenous people.

It seems like much ado about nothing: If acai is being made unaffordable by $104 million in US-driven sales, then it should be easy enough to funnel a chunk of that money back into the communities to raise the standard of living: The emergence of a valuable cash crop should help the people, not hurt them.

The fact is that that rarely happens, but perhaps Oprah can use her platform to make sure that the benefits of Acai’s popularity accrues at least partly to the poor locals. But long-term, it’s probably not going to be a major driver of anything. Its explosive sales growth aside, acai has all the hallmarks of a fad food: Its sales growth is being driven by multi-level marketing hype machines like MonaVie and unrealistic claims and promises have abounded.

And what about the antioxidant power? Gourmet reported that “an experiment last year at UCLA revealed that the berry is actually lower in antioxidant potency than many other sources, including red wine and pomegranate, grape, and blueberry juices.”

Acai products — especially the ones sold through multi-level marketing — are outrageously expensive and don’t appear to be spectacular enough to justify the cost. I predict that acai flames out before it has any long-term impact on the Brazilian economy.

Neways Helps Raise Funds For Polio Vaccinations

Neways Helps Raise Funds For Polio Vaccinations

Neways Logo

As a socially conscious company that is always on the lookout for ways to help others, Neways Japan has recently been involved with a large-scale plastic-cap-recycling project to raise funds for polio vaccinations.

To date, more than 3.5 million beverage caps collected by Neways have been recycled, and the proceeds have purchased polio vaccinations for more than 4,000 people. The effort is known as the Eco Cap Project. Working together with a volunteer organization called Group MATE, Neways Japan staff members and independent distributors have been collecting and sorting the caps at several Neways showrooms.

The plastic caps are then sold for recycling to Tokyo Mokkosho, and the resulting funds are donated to the Japan committee of a nonprofit organization called Vaccines for the World`s Children. Out of 1,930 participating organizations, Neways Japan has collected the second-highest number of caps.In addition to providing vaccinations to needy children, the Eco Cap Project is also providing environmental benefits.

By recycling the caps instead of incinerating them, air pollution has been reduced by nearly 30,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide to date. In addition, the collection bins in Neways showrooms are made of Eco Ply, which contains recycled material from caps that have been gathered.

“We greatly appreciate all the Neways distributors and staff for your generous help in collecting and sorting the caps,” said a representative of the Eco Cap Project.

“We are very pleased that our Japan partners have taken the initiative to get involved with such a worthwhile project,” said Neways CEO Eric Larsen. “It`s inspiring to see Neways employees and distributors combining their volunteer efforts. I would like to see more of this kind of activity around the world, both within Neways and wherever people are blessed with the prosperity to help those who are less fortunate.”

About Neways, known as the Safety-Conscious Company, Neways is dedicated to helping families transform their homes into Healthy Homes.

With dozens of safe, effective nutritional and personal care products that are free of questionable ingredients, the company has strived since 1992 to make the world a healthier place, one home at a time.In addition to providing exclusive products, Neways enhances people`s lives with a home-based business opportunity.

About half a million active Neways distributors share the products in 29 countries, with nearly half of the company`s annual revenues paid back to distributors as commissions.

Avon Launching First-Ever Informercial

Avon Launching First-Ever Informercial

The cosmetics firm Avon will come calling on TV, recruiting sales representatives with its first-ever infomercial debuting this weekend. After its initial appearance on Oxygen on Saturday morning, the half-hour commercial for troubled Avon Products Inc. will be shown repeatedly on Oxygen, Lifetime and USA. Deborah Norville and financial guru Suze Orman are featured, but the infomercial is dominated by testimonials from women who sell Avon`s products. The company wants to increase its base of 500,000 sales representatives in the United States.

“We saw it as an opportunity because of the times we`re in,” said Geralyn Brieg, President of Avon North America.

Avon announced a restructuring with a freeze on salaries and hiring two months ago. The company sells more than three-quarters of its cosmetics overseas, where sales have been hurt by a stronger dollar. The project is also an example of the growing acceptance of infomercials, once an advertising form reserved for cheesy products. “We really wanted to explore how to do it in a quality way,” Brieg said, “and I think the image of infomercials as being something of a hard sell is really outdated.”

Brieg said the company was motivated to do something more on television after an appearance by its president on ABC`s “Good Morning America” last November.

The TV appearance alone caused a large jump in the number of people calling to inquire about selling Avon products, she said. She would not pinpoint a target on how many new sales representatives Avon hopes to gain with the infomercial.

“Recruiting is 50 percent of what we focus on at Avon,” she said. “It`s the moral equivalent for a retailer of having more stores open.”
